Parents should be aware that the psychological impact of many episodes of this show goes well beyond blood spatter and gunshot wounds. And actually, some episodes would be fine for a 13 or possibly even 12 year old.īut that's the problem: SOME episodes. As has been mentioned by others, there is very little on-screen violence here. Honestly I couldn't care less about any of that my daughter adores Agatha Christie books (and movies), and indeed The Hunger Games, and I consider those to be fine for her. Yes, it's about people who track down killers, and there's corpses, etc. And I'm going to love showing her a show that celebrates both intelligence and empathy, and continually reminds us that one is not enough without the other.īut I'm going to have to wait, because this show also has the potential to be extremely disturbing and frightening. She's going to love the mysteries, and the excitement, and the utterly delicious humour of it. She is going to love the beautifully realised characters, and the complex interplay between them. She is going to love its clever dialogue, intricate plotting, and slow-burn drama. I firmly believe it is one of the best television shows ever to grace our screens. Filling the finale with him saying a bunch of cheesy lines just made it even worse.Firstly, just to be clear: this show is AMAZING. The original character was supposed to be a clever, older professor. The actor and character always came off like a dim-witted but cocky psychopathic yuppie banker bro given a bunch of cheesy one-liners by the writers. SPOILER: Also, really hated the Moriarty character and casting in this series. It seems like they tried to go too big on the shock surprise and do something different. 3rd was way too hard to believe, borderline supernatural and horror, logistically a lot of it seems impossible no matter how smart the villain is supposed to be, not really any mystery in the story. 2nd was more like the classic first 2 seasons and had some interesting twists, villain was well casted. After solving the initial crime reported, 1st episode became too action-oriented, borderline James Bond. ![]() ![]() The main complement however that i can give this season is its behind the scenes production with acting talent and set value being of the gold standard, even if the story and hideous CGI hinder the preformances and scenery that have been so carefully crafted to retain the look from the first series of Sherlock in 2010. However in season four any audience members will doubt what Sherlock can actually see as in between season 3 and 4 Sherlock has appartently developed a God complex that not only grants him the ability to solve cases with no other viable evidence then his mind palace but to also read the future. ![]() From even before the show had begun, people were famaliar with Sherlock Holmes, the clever detective in the funny hat, ever accompanied by his loyal physician, Dr John Watson and it was within the first few moments of watching Holmes for the first time that we truely got a measure of how intelligent he was in his ability to accurately observe what others simply see. To even the most casusal fans of the series, audiences cannot lie about the evident drop in quality since the end of season 2 where originality all but dried up and fan service was all but left to fill the void, with Moffat and Gatiss consuming member berry after member berry to relive some of the glory of the first 2 seasons "Ooh, member Irene Adler?" "Ooh i member!". Sherlock season 4 comples a short list of enjoyable moments intwined with exposition followed by more exposition making each sequence feel somwhat contrived and over-eloborate.
